Recreational Paintballers Recreational Paintballers Paintball for the rest of us! Blog About « Older // Loading Newer » Basic Necessities 0 Comments Published by Moe October 3rd, 2006 in Main . If this is your first time going to play paintball in the woods, here are a few basic necessites: Attire: Tops- It does get hot from time to time, so wear some layers that you may want to shed. I wear ‘paintball’ long-sleeeve jerseys, they have mesh venting on the side and padding on the elbows. Vests are optional, most people wear them underneath their jerseys. I consider baseball caps or a beanie a MUST , why? if you are not wearing a full face helmet, they do help absorb some of the impact if you get hit on the noggin. Also, wearing the hat backwards will protect the back of the neck area. Gloves are highly recommended, getting hit on the top of your hand really stings, they also help crawling around on the dirt. Bottoms- Camouflage pants are preferred but not essential. Wear something that you won’t mind getting dirty or ripped. As for shoes go, I recommend Hiking shoes, but anything that you won’t mind getting dirty or torn will work. We had a couple of people wear Doc Martin boots, BIG Mistake, leave the boots at home. Miscellaneous- A small rag or towel, wipes and a change of clothes to go home. Food and drinks We have breaks between changing fields. Water, gatorade or any other NON-ALCOHOLIC drink is a must. Powerbars, clifbars or any other snack is also recommended. As for lunch goes, we have about an hour to re-charge our batteries. Bring your lunch of choice, also, bring an EZ-Up and some foldable chairs to kick back. Most of all, bring a great attitude. You will get hit and it may sting, but you can always get’em back. Tippmann A-5 Review 0 Comments Published by Moe October 1st, 2006 in Reviews . Description: The black Tippmann A-5â„¢ is all about speed. Its patented Cyclone® Feed System links the feeder sprocket to the air system, giving it the power to unleash a fury of balls as fast as you can fire them. The A-5â„¢ can also be completely stripped and reassembled in the field in 60 seconds - without tools. Combining technology, accuracy and durability, this high-end marker has everything, so you can concentrate on one thing - eliminating your opponent. With its all aluminum die cast receiver and extra-sturdy black finish, the A-5â„¢ is one of the toughest markers available. Other features include a shock-absorbing end cap for reduced wear and recoil; front-cocking knob, which allows for a fully enclosed receiver; and a 200-round wide-mouth hopper. Source: www.tippmann.com Personal experience : The Tippmann A-5 was the first marker that I purchased. After reading reviews and my friend’s advice, I invested on a used Tippmann A-5. I purchased a package on Ebay, the package contained the A-5, a 12oz and a 20oz tank and a JT Evader Goggles, 14″ J&J barrel. What I like: The gun is very reliable, fast, upgradeable and nice looking. It rarely brakes balls if used with the proper CO2 pressure. What I don’t like: The gun is heavy with all the add-ons, the sling is a MUST for carrying around the gun between breaks or when out of the game. A barrel upgrade is also a must, the stock barrel is too loud, the range is too short and inaccurate. Recommended Upgrades: A barrel, of course! I like the J&J 14″ Barrel, I hear pros and cons about the famed Flatline barrel, so the J&J is enough for me. A Ricochet Smoke Hopper, sling and a stock. Bottom Line: Would I recommend the Tippmann A-5? Absolutely. With its great upgradeability, reasonable price and good looks, the A-5 is an awesome recreational Marker. Disclaimer: The forementioned views are solely mine, I’m no way compensated by Tippmann and other manufacturers mentioned in my review. I got tired of reading reviews from people that can hardly write. I also got tired of people looking down on Newbies or players that have ‘modest’ guns. I started to play paintball on April 2006, my buddies Tim and Charles got me into it. Since then, I have introduced the game of recreational paintball to 6 of my co-workers, all of them have taken the plunge and invested on their own gear. My buddy Fernando and I decided to create this simple Paintball Blog dedicated to all paintballers that play for the fun of it, pure and simple. What this Blog will be about: Reviews of gear like Markers, Barrels, triggers. Reviews of our local paintball fields. Our experiences playing paintball featuring videos and pictures. This Blog will be about having fun with a sport/hobby we really love. Moe Search Quick Takes » We are heading to Camp Pendleton on October 7,2006. We have booked a private party.
